ABOUT US

Jans Corporation began in 1973 under the name of Nioda Builders and specialized in design/build construction, utilizing pre-engineered building systems. Dale Jans joined Nioda in 1975 as a Construction Manager and left two years later to become a partner in a construction firm in Sioux City, Iowa. In 1982, Dale returned to Sioux Falls and purchased Nioda Builders. At that time, the Company diversified into other types of general contracting. In 1984, the Company name changed to Jans Corporation.

Today, Jans Corporation continues to be one of the larger commercial construction companies in the state. Brian Jans is President of the Company and Dale Jans serves as Vice President. Jans Corporation maintains a yard, which houses the equipment, tools, and other support functions to the job sites. The office staff handles design, estimating, project management, payroll, personnel, and accounting functions.

Jans Corporation has experienced steady growth since inception, increasing sales volume, personnel, equipment, and ability to provide quality services for a large variety of construction projects.

Since its beginning in 1982, Jans Corporation has been involved in design/build, construction management, and general contracting with special emphasis in offices, medical clinics, educational and spiritual facilities, commercial buildings, and light industrial. Jans Corporation approaches all projects from a value engineering perspective.

Jans Corporation was awarded an AON Build America Award from the Associated General Contractors of America in 2010 for the Sioux Falls Seminary and in 2004 for the Sertoma Butterfly House. The criteria for receipt of the award includes: Meeting the challenge of a difficult job; excellence in project management; contractor’s innovation in construction techniques or materials; contractor’s state of the art advancement; contractor’s sensitivity to environment and surroundings; excellence in client service; contractor’s contribution to the community; and safety.

TRADES

Typically, the trades Jans Corporation self-performs include concrete work, steel and precast erection, and rough and finish carpentry. All other trades are carefully selected from a group of subcontractors that meet our industry’s highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.

Brian D. Jans

President

Brian Jans, President and Owner of Jans Corporation, received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from South Dakota State University in 2001. Brian oversees all company projects from remodels to new construction. He works towards developing relationships with long term customers and providing long term maintenance opportunities to clients. Brian is involved with making executive decisions, supervision, estimating, design, marketing, development, and managing the day to day operations. Brian grew up in Sioux Falls, SD and currently lives in Harrisburg with his wife Stacey and their three kids, Elly, Nathan, and Maddy. Brian enjoys being outdoors and enjoying everything that this great state has to offer.

Dale A. Jans, P.E.

Vice President

Dale A. Jans, Vice President and former Owner of Jans Corporation, received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from South Dakota State University in 1974. He is currently registered as a professional engineer in South Dakota. Mr. Jans has been and remains active in estimating, design, marketing, supervision, development and management of many varied building projects in addition to the Jansmick Development (8 Buildings), Northridge Apartments (4 Buildings, 200 Units), Yankton Trail Professional Park (7 Buildings) and Minnesota Crossing Complex (3 Buildings).

Jessica Boddicker

Operations Manager

Jessica is the Operations Manager for Jans Corporation. Originally from upstate New York, she joined the Air Force as an active-duty airman and served her country honorably. After being discharged from the military, she moved to South Dakota and attended SDSU where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management and started her career in heavy industrial electrical construction, then transitioned to general contracting project management. For the last 5 years, Jessica has been the leader of a lean construction department where her passion has been on operational efficiencies, creating and maintaining standards of work around project scheduling, value stream mapping, and reducing waste in everyday work.

Her passion is getting to the root of the problem in the construction industry and working to better the processes around us. By bettering the industry, we better the lives of those working within it, and nothing is better than happy co-workers! She is certified as a Lean Construction Professional with her AGC CM-LEAN accreditation.

Jessica currently lives in Brandon with her husband, Jeff, and her daughter, Kyra. She enjoys attending her daughter’s track, soccer, and powerlifting events, going to the gym, reading, and going golfing with her husband.

Jeff Smith

Chief financial officer

Jeff is the Chief Financial Officer at Jans Corporation. He graduated from the University of South Dakota with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. He began his career as a Sales and Use Tax Auditor, but has spent a majority of his career in the healthcare industry as a Clinic Administrator, Executive Director, Consultant, and most recently as a Controller. In his role as CFO he oversees the financial management and performance of Jans Corporation and its subsidiaries, and also provides strategic leadership to ensure the organization’s strategic initiatives and action steps maximize the financial value of the company. Jeff and his wife Jamie have three grown children and one grandson. In his spare time he likes to pheasant hunt, golf, ride bike, read, and spend time with family and friends.

Human Resources

Taylor handles Human Resources for Jans Corporation and affiliated companies. Taylor graduated from the University of Sioux Falls with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Science, and Criminal Justice. She enjoys spending her free time outdoors with family and friends, doing yardwork, hanging out with her cats, and playing soccer.

Controller

Vicky has a Masters of Professional Accountancy (MPA) from the University of South Dakota. As the Controller at Jans Corporation, she performs all of the accounting and financial duties for the company.

Lydia Yadassa

Administrative Assistant

Lydia is the Administrative Assistant for Jans Corporation. Lydia graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing. In her free time Lydia enjoys going to concerts, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Arlan Van Voorst

Project Manager

Arlan has lived in the Sioux Falls area since middle school with the exception of when he attended Phoenix Institute of Technology where he received an Associates Degree in Architectural Computer Science. He has worked in Architectural and General Contractor roles and has worked on various types of construction projects. Arlan is married with three children. In his spare time he enjoys going to activities his kids are involved in, church, and walking with his wife.

Kevin Hustrulid

Project Manager

Kevin began his career as a cabinet maker. He was the owner, operator, and built plastic laminate casework. Attending college classes in the evening he earned a degree in Business Administration from NCB, in Sioux Falls. As the economy softened in the eighties, he helped Jordan Millwork close their cabinet shop by completing contracts for them and later went to work for them as an Architectural Sales Representative. He learned CAD drafting and worked for several Sioux Falls Architects as a CAD technician.

Construction became his passion as he worked as a Project and Shop Manager for a local firm. He has spent the last several years as a Project Manager and enjoys all types of construction; wood, steel, concrete, churches, schools, strip malls, and office buildings. In his spare time, he enjoys woodworking, timber framing, CNC programing, and fishing with friends and his dog, Ziggy.

Adam Struck

BluArc Steel & Precast Manager

Adam Struck, Manager of BluArc Steel & Precast, received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management with a minor in Business from South Dakota State University. Upon graduation Adam worked with a construction company where he was involved with estimating, sales, and project management for projects across the United States. Most recently, Adam held an operations management role at a precast concrete manufacturer for over a decade.

In this role he was responsible for the management of precast manufacturing from start to finish. From design concept to project completion, he has been heavily involved in all facets of precast concrete. With over 20 years of experience in various types of construction, he understands a customer’s needs and makes client satisfaction a priority. As Manager of BluArc Steel & Precast, Adam is responsible for marketing and development, estimating, supervision, and management of the overall operations of BluArc. In his spare time he enjoys anything outdoors – especially hunting, fishing, and camping.

Jenna is the Project Manager Admin for Jans Corporation. She grew up in Madison, SD on her family farm along with the family-owned water softener business. Jenna attended Lake Area Technical Institute and later moved to Sioux Falls where she pursued sales and design services, supporting clients in creating the spaces they desired in their homes and businesses. In her spare time, Jenna enjoys spending time with her nieces, her kitty, concerts, and spending time by the water.

Jackson Bestge

Project Coordinator

Jackson is a Project Coordinator for Jans Corporation. He graduated from South Dakota State University in 2023 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and minor in Construction Management. In his free time Jackson enjoys brewing beer, playing games with friends and family, and spending time with his dalmatian, Ursa.

Brad Jans

Project Manager

Brad graduated from South Dakota State University in 1999 where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management. He recently joined Jans Corporation to kick off the Residential Division as a Project Manager. Brad is involved in the estimating, budgeting, management, and overall operations of our residential projects.

His favorite part of the process is working with the clients to help them make their vision a reality.  Brad was born and raised in Sioux Falls, and currently still resides here with his wife, Sheri, and their four children Taryn, Hadley, Maya, and Brody.  In his spare time, Brad enjoys riding motorcycles, hunting, snowboarding, and traveling with his family.

Travis Ennor

Travis grew up in George, IA and moved to Sioux Falls after high school. He earned Associate’s Degree in Computer Programming, Networking, and PC Support from Southeast Tech. He also graduated from Colorado Technical University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Network Management. Travis is the Field Superintendent for Jans Corporation and has been involved in construction or maintenance in one form or another for most of his working life.

Devin DeLeeuw

Devin is graduate of South Dakota State University. with Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering. He has spent his early years in the manufacturing field and in the more recent years he has enjoyed sales roles. Devin is the Safety Officer for Jans Corporation, getting back to his roots in the safety role while still being able to interact with people on a daily basis. He spends his free time with his wife and 2 boys, gardening, and riding anything with 2 wheels and a motor.

Superintendent

Ryan Johnson is a Superintendent for Jans Corporation. He has been in the construction industry for over 10 years, working in various trades. He made the move to the commercial side upon graduating from Southeast Technical Institute in 2017 with a double major in Construction Management and Architectural Engineering.

Ryan grew up in Hartford, South Dakota and made his way back to his hometown where he currently resides with his wife. Ryan likes to fill his free time with snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing.

Bob Bauman

Superintendent

Robert 'Bob' Bauman started an electrical construction company in 1979. In 2001 he made a switch, working as a Project Mangaer for various construction companies and an engineering firm. Bob has experience working on commercial buildings, government buildings, schools, medical facilities, and more.

Bob retired in 2011, but returned to the workforce shortly after in 2014 when he started working for a local concrete products company as an on-site Project Manager and Field Supervisor, overseeing the installation and repair of their structural and architectural precast products.  Bob now brings his wealth of knowledge and expertise to Jans Corporation as a Superintendent.
